i'm headed out to see austin powers :: goldmember at the arclight cinema in hollywood. normally, this would be nothing too special [even if the arclight is wicked cool] but the theatre we're going to see it in just so happens to be the cinerama dome... double plus yum.

vegas bound

well i finally got my confirmation number out of the luxor. now all i've really got left on my to do list is compile a set of mp3's to offload onto otaku and get the tardbus in shape. defcon ahoy!

recompile: lather, rinse, repeat

in about a month i've already had to recompile apache twice [once for the chunked vuln, and once for the latest php vuln] on half a dozen boxes and ssh twice on over a dozen boxes. while i admire the open source movement i loathe all the fixes i've gotta do. well, at least they're being security minded. *shrug*

god, i've got about nine full days before i leave for defcon and i don't feel anywhere near ready. i want to simplify things, but at this point it's either full throttle or failure.

i hate spammers

today is the day that officially announce my jihad against spammers... there's some bastards out there right now hitting my work's mail server something fierce which is causing some internal rpc services to fail. i'm so entireley ready to pummel the shit out of them just because i have to play babysitter for our mailserver while i should be installing a win2k server. of course, things have been better since i last had to restart rpc services about four hours ago... so i've got that going for me.

i just got a seventeen inch monitor that runs on my linux box and my grey g3. mmm... os x in 1280x1024 is sexy. now all i need to do is get kde three compiled on the linux box and i'll be fucking set.

i think the jaguar print x for the new revision of os x is clever and there's plenty of goodies apple's adding, but $100/year for itools?! add my complaint to the pile...

shoutin' lager lager lager...

perhaps it was guilt for getting my hands on the prerelease copy of the new underworld disc that made me do it, but i finally broke down and picked up "everything, everything" on dvd. after getting thru the first half hour i'm really glad i got it. i've got the volume up [only halfway on my tv. but belive me, that's plenty loud.] and i'm wishing i had the dolby 5.1 gear so i could get the full effect.

props to splat and his co-worker for pointing out a configuration error in php that could've been very bad. if you're wondering why we were down for half the day on monday, i killed httpd until i could deal with my snafu.
