late nights

i get to be up at nine tommorow [now this] morning. why? i've been assisting in what little way i could to help get a rather important box back online. the nice part about all this is it got a little upgrade in the process and it's running the latest version of slack.

unfortunatley every iso of slackware we had access to wouldn't boot from cd so i had to make boot and root floppies. normally, this wouldn't be an issue seeing as how slack's been big on the "you'll only ever need two floppies to boot" bandwagon. however for one reason or another slackware now requires one boot floppy and five root floppies. five. how can they jump from one root floppy to five in a point revision?! maybe it's more utilities or a kernel with better hardware support. i hope that's the reason.
