waxy pointed out that the rss feed for "fresh fruit..." points to permalinks and not the links themselves. as irritating as that is, until blogger allows me to overwrite the permalinks they throw down i'm stuck with having the link reside in the description tag.
of course the obvious soloution is to migrate to something more robust... but i have nowhere near the time to set that up now.
