dispatches from armageddon

armageddon sky

i avoided walking to the corner liquor store this afternoon because i was out of breathing masks.

every inch of our neighborhood is covered in a fine soot and ash and the sky has taken on a sickly brown and orange glow.

earlier, while grabbing a bottled water from our garage i saw a patch of blue and stared up at it for what was probably five minutes. all i could do was wonder when i'd see blue again.

all day it's smelled like a damned camp fire. even with a sealed house i can't help but take in a whiff of smoke now and again and it's driving my sinuses batshit.

back in high school i imagined living in this sort of post-apocalyptic future, i just didn't think it'd happen so soon.
