from the prior-art-o-matic
it's like a normal riot shield, but it takes high-quality digital photos.
ammusing, thought provoking, the prior-art-o-matic is a wonderful way to kill ten minutes - or an hour depending on how productive you want your day to be...
updata: i always knew something was up with jobs

i don't get it...
you learn something new every day, and what i've learned today confuses the piss out of me. documentary filmmaker michael moore has taken a very anti-gun stance, yet he's a member of the nra. what sort of double standard does he live by? don't get me wrong, i think michael moore is one of the more thought provoking people of my generation and i enjoy his work immensely. but i also belive in a right to bear arms. contradictory, i know... but i'm still confused by mike's stance.
while i belive in the second ammendment, i feel that i'll probably never join the nra because a great deal of their leaders are either insane or old white men with non-progressive views towards society. when the presidency was up for grabs not only was chuck heston interested, but ted nugent wanted a shot [no pun intended] at the captian's chair. frankly, the nuge frightens me. he's fun to watch in the same way ross perot was when he was running for the presidency of the united states. his various appearances on late night talk shows and his show "spirit of the wild" is like watching something out of bizzaro land. basically, i watch because i'm waiting for him to careen wildly out of control on national television. someone get this man a reality show on e!
god, still... michael moore a cardholding member of the nra. color me confused.

tube obsession
much to the confusion of all my friends in london [and most of them on this side of the pond] i love the hell out of the tube. it borders on sick obsession. case in point, i just did some quick sodding off online and found these two things related to the underground that i want so very badly. well, i'm bound to be thirty dollars lighter shortly.
google bowing to the dmca

of course it was bound to happen, but now google's cache/results are even getting getting skewed by the dmca. doing a search for a technical issue one of our customers was having i was presented with the above message. either way, i'm happy to know that google's alerting me of the fact that it's results are slightly skewed.

hardware trouble
frankenputer finally died on tuesday, so now i'm sans a functioning computer at home. i have one of two options:
[one] get a hard drive and some ram for the k6-2-500 kicking around the office.
[two] part out the almost unuseable powermac 8100/100 [formerly known as gaijin] and get the powermac 6500/233 running.
unfortunatley i don't think i can do either tonight seeing as how i've loaned out my mac os nine.one cd and i can't muster up the transportation to hit pc club until tommorow. on the bright side of things i think i'm gonna hit radio shack tonight, pick up a twenty.five foot length of coax and rig my tv up to the house cable. hopefully, i won't need a converter box...

seasons
watching the seasons change in southern california can be a tad bit confusing to the casual observer. yesterday was the the last day of september and as i exited work i wished for the first time since late spring that i had my hoodie. anywhere else the brisk tempatures would signal that fall and winter were on the horizon. no warm weather would cross your doorstep until that time in late spring where you trade in your hoodie for warmer tempatures. but thanks to living where i do i've spent the random thanksgiving in shorts and bar-b-que'd in what should be the dead of winter. just because it's hoodie weather doesn't mean it's going to stay that way. maybe i'm one of many southern californians who wishes that there'd be a more definite change in seasons. a line that once crossed would force mother nature to make up her mind and stay that way for a good five to seven months. i've considered moving elsewhere just so i could experience real seasons, but perhaps the whole appeal of shorts and bar-b-que have kept me here.
weather, she is a harsh mistress.
